Coffee on the Beach
I woke up early and enjoyed a nice cup of coffee while sitting on one of the chase lounge chairs at our hotel. It was a beautiful morning. Sandy slept in, so I had some quiet time to read my book and drink my coffee.
Eventually Sandy woke up and we went for a walk on the beach. She was bummed that she did not get a coffee at the hotel before we left and was wishing to see a Starbucks as we walked the beach. In an unbelievable coincidence, a coffee vender with a cart walked up the beach and her wish was granted! Unfortunately, I had not brought any cash with me for this walk. The coffee vender said it would not be a problem. He sold us some coffee and told us to pay him later when we saw him again. I love this Island!
Bloody Maria!
Stopped at Big Fish Cafe for a Bloody Maria. It’s the same classic recipe—tomato juice, spices, citrus, and heat—but swapping vodka for tequila gives it that extra kick and a more Mexican flavor profile.
Pineapple Mezcal Smash (with smoked rosemary)
We stopped at the Hotel Punta Caliza and tried a specialty drink with pineapple and burning rosemary. Sandy decided at this point that she does not like Mezcal.
Sunset from our hotel beach.
The Carnival activities were all over the island. It seemed that every street we walked down had a celebration of some kind happening. Everyone was so nice. I was able to get pictures taken with so many of htem.
Later, we found a bar with swings on the front of the Coquitos Bar. Here we shared our table a fun group of people from Norway.
