Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
After driving through Munising, Michigan, we headed to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This area covers 13 miles of Lake Superior east of Munising. There are sandstone cliffs and a variety of shallow caves, arches and formations. We stopped at Miners Castle, one of the most famous landmarks along Picture Rocks shoreline. There is an easy trail to walk to see the Minors Castle formation. It is a dog friendly trail with incredible views of Lake Superior and Minors Castle Formation. The fall colors made it especially wonderful.
We took the main roads from Munising to Gladstone. We are staying in Gladstone for the next two nights.
We booked a cabin at Stemac’s Bayview Cabins through Airbnb. These cabins are a bit rustic and meant for people staying to go fishing. They have docking and fish cleaning stations. We just needed a place to stay near Gladstone as we are also visiting friends that live in Gladstone.
