Wedding at Bowton Castle

The reason we made this trip is now happening. Our Exchange student, Mew, is getting married. We are very excited for her and have been looking forwards to this wedding for a while. She is getting married at Bowton Castle in Shrewsbury England.

We joined them for the Grooms Dinner at Egos at The Grapes in Shrewsbury. It was nice to get to see Mew and her fiancé Liam as well as their families and friends. We met Liam’s mom, Diane and his dad David. We also met Mew’s mom, Na and her brothers Mos and Mark. Her friends all wanted to know how they could get “American Parents”, like Mew. We had a good time getting to know everyone.

Bowton Castle is now a wedding venue and had weddings booked pretty much every day. We could only book a room the day of the wedding, so we had to find places to stay in Shrewsbury for the day before and the day after. Airbnb did the job!

This was an all day event. The wedding ceremony started at 1:30.

The wedding was beautiful (so was Mew). The ceremony was short but sweet.

Drinks and Photos were at 2:00. The weather was clear so they could do wedding photos on the grounds. Mew was so sweet, she wanted her “American Parents” in her wedding photos. I was so honored.

Toasts and Speeches were at 4:00. Mews mom gave a tearful blessing and Liams mates roasted him a bit, but still gave a great toast.

At 4:30, a Wedding Breakfast was served. Not sure why that called it a Breakfast, it was a fantastic dinner!

She had fun guest gifts for us as well. We got a box of mints that said “Mint to Be” Mew and Liam as well as personalized Name tags with our names spelled in Thai.

We had time for a short nap in our rooms after dinner as evening guests were to arrive at 7:00pm, then cake cutting and dancing at 8:00pm.

Mew had put together a great play list and everyone danced all night up until midnight when the DJ had to leave. She also had a pizza bar for evening guests and anyone else to get a bite to eat.

The next morning, we had a poper English breakfast in the Castle Dinning room. It was nice to see everyone again and be able to give a poper goodbye.
